In response to the President's fear mongering tirade in today's Washington Post, he has this to say:
First, the government "doing nothing" actually defers to the private sector to lift themselves out of this recession. It is a false choice to assert that not passing the stimulus package is nothing; it is simply relying on the American people over politicians. This is the true, American, level-headed response that we should expect from the highest office in the land. Instead, we get the most powerful man in the entire world telling us all that "By now, it's clear to everyone that we have inherited an economic crisis as deep and dire as any since the days of the Great Depression."
This statement is pure instillation of fear and nothing more. By comparison to other recessions, this recession doesn't break the top three in the post-war era.
Our president goes on to forcefully tell us that we have all been morons for our entire lives, with the obvious presupposition that of course, the government had absolutely nothing to do with that!
Nobody staring this situation in the face has ever once mentioned that they thought tax cuts alone would solve the problems we now encounter. This statement is pure fallacy by our President. For anybody who's actually been paying attention to anything, the real prescription is tax cuts plus a major decrease in government spending. Increasing the size of the government along with the tax cuts has been what's gotten our government so deep down the well they can't see the light at the top anymore. In recent days, there have been misguided criticisms of this plan that echo the failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis -- the notion that tax cuts alone will solve all our problems; that we can meet our enormous tests with half-steps and piecemeal measures; that we can ignore fundamental challenges such as energy independence and the high cost of health care and still expect our economy and our country to thrive.
I reject these theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change.
This is to say nothing of his complete twist of the "change" that the American people voted for. The American people united behind Obama in an all out war against their negative beliefs in George Bush. They wanted someone different and projected their individual values onto a blank slate of "Hope" and "Change." they did not vote for anything that Barack Obama believes in or represents. They voted for a ghost.
And now that he wants them to follow his true beliefs, beliefs in big government, the nanny state, and outright socialism, he finds that he must resurrect the fiendish tricks of the past to serve his purpose.
Once science has to serve, not truth, but the interests of a class, a community, or a state, the sole task of argument and discussion is to vindicate and to spread still further the beliefs by which the whole life of the community is directed. As the Nazi minister of justice has explained, the question which every new scientific theory must ask itself is: "Do I serve National Socialism for the greatest benefit of all?"Barack Obama is trying to force a gigantic spending package down our throats. It is a package designed, in it's full and true intent, to expand the size and power of the government, and to eliminate our personal liberties through every single dollar thrown away. And he wants us to believe that this is the right thing to do; to mortgage the future lives of our children and grandchildren into slavery to paying off the debt his decision will immediately incur.
The word "truth" itself ceases to have its old meaning. It describes no longer something to be found, with the individual conscience as the sole arbiter of whether in any particular instance the evidence (or the standing of those proclaiming it) warrants a belief; it becomes something to be laid down by authority, something which has to be believed in the interest of the unity of the organized effort and which may have to be altered as the exigencies of this organized effort require it.

Devil's Advocate asked the question: "Is Barack Obama a liar?"
Well I have the answer.
ABSOLUTELY.
Wait.... you're going to tell me that a politician lied? Make sure to double check your sources on that one.
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, this recession is no joke and the worst is yet to come. The unemployment rate will soon be reaching depression era levels.
I reject the attempted snark of your comment.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to accept a two-faced liar as my President, when he campaigned on a platform of being the most honest, transparent President ever.
It's SIXTEEN DAYS into his term, and he's already treating us with complete disdain and telling us we're stupid if we don't like it.
I refuse to allow this man to implement his socialist policies, destroy my country, and then tell me I'm the one that's wrong for believing in TRUTH, JUSTICE and ECONOMIC & PERSONAL FREEDOM.
But I understand the recession is no joke. I don't claim that it is. What IS a joke is our President's clueless ignorance of history and economics in addressing it, and his FEAR MONGERING response to the MAJORITY of the country saying, "Hey wait a minute, let's take a deep breath and do the right thing here."
